The Main Characters

Kippei Katakura

The first few episodes of the series shows Kippei as a typical irresponsible character. Oftentimes, when picking Yuzuyu up, he fails to make it in time, and always seems to end up apologizing for some broken promise or other. These characteristics don't give viewers a very good impression of him, but soon this impression changes to one of grudging respect as he makes honest attempts to make Yuzuyu's life a little better. I especially enjoyed the time when it was his first time attempting to make Yuzuyu's "packed lunch." His playboy character suffers a heavy beating when he finds himself cooking Yuzuyu's food early in the morning.

Kokoro Tokunaga

This is a character who eventually becomes Kippei's girlfriend. At first, she seems extremely cold and completely disgusted by Kippei, but it becomes rather easy to predict her attraction to him. Out of all the characters, Kokoro is among one of the most confusing ones. On the surface she looks like a stuck-up, mean girl-classmate, but the deeper side of her character is gradually revealed as we learn about her difficult and lonely lifestyle. She is one sob story all on her own, and because of this she is able to share and receive love and comfort from Kippei and Yuzuyu.

Yuzuyu Sakashita

Adorable. She is also the most perfect little girl - she doesn't throw tantrums, for example. She likes to sing, but isn't good at it; likes to draw but isn't good at that either. All she cares about is how Kippei would react to the drawings she gives him, whether or not he's upset with her etc. This develops as a result of her confusion over her mother's disappearance. Throughout the series, Yuzuyu is always worrying that her mother will forget her, or that they won't be able to find each other when the mother returns.

Suzuko Katakura

Kippei's older, domineering sister. She seems to be the ruler of the household, and is often portrayed as shouting and bossing someone around. However, when it comes to Yuzuyu, she suddenly becomes very nice and sweet. Typical tempermental, boss-lady type figure with a sweet side for people in need.

Satsuki Katakura

Kippei's straight-A-student younger brother. Although he seems extremely mature and older, he is actually still in middle school. He always appears calm and somewhat detached from the rest of the family. It seems as if his already responsible character leads his sister to leave him alone and only bug Kippei.
