The Main Characters
Tsukasa
A rather weak main character. Oftentimes he would just sit there and moan and stare at nothing. There were flashes of his past that indicated he may have suffered from some type of abuse, but the story doesn't go any deeper into it and leaves the watcher hanging. Sometimes he acts cocky when approached by a boastful knight (members of a group of voluntary "police officers" of The World) and has the ability to destroy them (including knocking the actual player in the real world unconscious, although he doesn't seem to know this); other times he acts like a complete wimp, unable to do anything more than cower behind his friends. He is rude to his companions, except for Subaru. He seems to develop a deep relationship with her as time goes by, although we don't know why he decides to exclude the others so harshly.
Subaru
Subaru is an interesting character. Her real person in the real world is handicapped, and it is later revealed by a friend that one of the main reasons she comes into The World is so that she can walk again - to experience it, even on a virtual level. Her goody-good personality seems to motivate her leadership of the Silver Knights, although this turns a bit awry since rather than being regarded with respect, the Silver Knights are feared by other players. Subaru, who is a very weak player in The World, becomes the victim of blind jealousy and oftentimes contempt for her seemingly high-and-mightly position as the leader of the Silver Knights.
