I actually saw the first episode of this series from a sample DVD that came with an anime magazine. From the get-go you could tell it was a classic cinderella story plus a guardians-taking-care-of-priestess kinda deal. I didn't love it, but didn't hate it either -- a good series to get you going through a boring weekend or two.
Very nice. I especially love the way they drew Himeno's and, though the style is getting rather common and resembles the art of CLAMP, Sasame's character. The only trouble is with transitions, which I saw only once in the first episode with Mawata.
In terms of comedic relief, Pretear definitely pulls through. Himeno's character is absolutely awesome, a fun mix of tomboyish strength and a clumsy demeanor that fails to flatter her already-ruffled appearance. Her role as a classic Cinderella is unique in that she also has that tomboyish personality.
However, the main storyline of the series may begin to seem rather corny from the end of the first episode onward. Many times I found myself cringing at the super cheesy lines recited by both the protagonists and the antagonists.
