The Synopsis
The story begins not long after a civil war within the world of Saiunkoku, an eight-provincial, monarchical country. Kou Shuurei, who was working as a schoolteacher, is invited to train the emperor, who seemed so determined to remain a mere figurehead in the palace, and to hopefully get him more interested in politics.
Shuurei gets the chance of a lifetime - to finally be allowed to get involved in the political world and to make a difference, even if that meant becoming the Emperor's temporary Consort (in name only).
As the story progresses, it focuses more on the challenge of being a woman trying to make a difference in a world dominated by men. Surrounded by some open-minded friends who recognize her for her determination and intelligence, Shuurei sets off in pursuit of a dream she thought was lost - to become an official of the Imperial Court.The Details
