      Mad Film Dash 2009

Friday, February 27, 2009 | Posted by Jay Last Saturday I participated in a film competition called "Mad FIlm Dash," hosted by my university's bookstore (which is a little infamous for its overpriced books and low buyback rates). But all the same, a group of friends and I decided to try it just for the hell of it. The title comes from its one iron-clad rule: we must make a film at least 30 seconds long and no more than 5 minutes long within a 24-hour period. In other words, most people don't sleep in this annual competition (they even served free coffee to keep us awake). And of course, the entire process squished into one full sleepless day really put on the stress.

In the end (and even at this very moment) none of us knew what the prizes were. In fact, it seemed nobody in the entire competition actually knew either - most people didn't seem to care. It was a moment of intense participation and collaboration with no motives other than to have a good time. That was what I loved about it.

Somehow we were able to put something together by midnight.
Below is a Youtube upload of our film. It's got a few mic and timing errors, but we just didn't care anymore +_+.

Please take a look! There were some parts that we weren't sure the audience would get ;). I'd love to hear what you guys think!

LMAO, that does sounds like a fun but tiring time. xD

I laughed when he said, "Hey! Are you listening to me!?" I get that all the time when trying to talk to my sister or mother, haha.

      Siblings! +_+

Interesting...I don't think I got the final twist, but it was intriguing enough for me to watch a second time to try to figure it all out! Was I supposed to be able to read the newspaper headline?

Actually we were planning on that, but the filming group was too beat to finish all the details (ahem). So in the end it became a super vague ending.
I'll spoil it for you though: the friend died and now Conan's all alone :P.
