Translation! :) Three Reasons Since entering the study abroad program to Japan, I've been thinking a lot about the reasons for going. I've come up with three of them.
First, I want to see what it's like to live on my own. I've always always been living at home, commuting to school from home, and I've always had a family to support me. These aren't bad things to have. However, I want to see what I can do by myself. If I do something like go to a foreign country on my own, cook for myself everyday, do my own laundry, pay for my own room with money that I earned myself, I think I might be able to become a better person. In the future, I will live on my own. This is reality. Therefore, I want to learn and practice from now on.
Second. I've heard that Japan's computer technology has become much better than that in the U.S. I happen to be really into that stuff, and I use the computer and internet everyday in life and at work. Therefore, I'd like to see what other people can do with modern technology.
Third. Of course, after seeing this site, you probably already know that I'm really into anime and Japanese culture. I haven't seen it for myself, but I've heard some things about the Japanese. The Japanese people are polite. Whether it's people they don't know or members of their family...whoever it is, they're always polite.
Also, the sons of the presidents of companies in that country work at the lowest position in the company until the president decides that they have studied enough business and gained enough work experience to follow in their footsteps. I don't know if this is true or not. However, last year, I taught an international student from Tokyo, Japan in a webdesign class. Everyday he studied hard before class, and he always had many good questions to ask. I was a little surprised. It was rare to see such a dedicated student. I'd like to see for myself if Japanese people are really that good.

It sounds like a really interesting experience to come. When do you start?
I wish I had the ability to do that, but for the moment, I don't think I'm quite financially there to essentially move out of the country. That and leaving family. I've baby stepped my way in the sense that I know that family is only about 2 hours away by bus for me... I can tell you that living on your own is definitely a different experience.
Too bad my Japanese knowledge level isn't quite where you're at (I only get by with listening to a few terms.... not fluent at all for me~)
I certainly hope it will be a different experience ( :
I leave at the end of March, and will be there for about a semester.
