      The Mask

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 | Posted by Jay Well I was gonna dress up as Waldo originally - went to Costume Castle and everything to look for the Harry Potter style glasses, red and white hat, and striped shirt. But no such luck.

I DID however find some very plain paper mache masks in a corner for $3.99 apiece. I've always wanted to do something with masks, but just never got around to it. Of course, there were some really pretty ones (mostly plastic) - bird-shaped beaks, regency style masque stuff...but those were a bit pricier (going $15 and up). And I'm a cheapass >).

So I bought the blank white one and took it home to decorate myself. I ended up falling asleep the night before halloween, completely forgetting about it, and waking up at around 3am unable to sleep anymore and seeing it on my little traipse down to the kitchen. So from 3am until dawn broke I worked on the mask.
I've uploaded some pics below - behold, my home-made, one piece costume! xD

Wow, it's absolutely gorgeous! What inspired you to decorate it like that?

Also did you take some pictures of it while you were decorating it? It would be awesome to see how it progressed from a blank mask to how it is now ^.^

Yep - there's a gallery of them (just click on the pic).

Randomness, too much korean drama in my life, and the sudden craving for a Halloween costume x).

Hey you! Long time no talk! How are you?

      That mask looks cool!

That's simply gorgeous! Have you considered branching into Etsy? I can see people wanting to buy handmade pieces like this! :D

It's rather amazing what some people can do. Like this. Taking a simple mask like that and turning it into something that most people would pay 20-50 USD for is absolutely stunning. It also shows how unbelievably creative you are as well.

Perhaps you'll get a chance to incorporate it with something next year?
