There was a health awareness event at my university today, and one of the showcases included an anti-suicide campaign. The project "
Don't Erase Your Future" is a message about what could be lost if someone committed suicide - i.e. "What if Einstein committed suicide?"
I was asked to participate in the drawing event, where originally we were supposed to be given a space to draw the portrait of a famous figure using sidewalk chalk. But since the forecast predicted rain, they changed it a bit and we ended up using oil pastels on canvas (an odd combination in fine arts terms, but by no means impossible).
I got Gandhi.
In South Africa, Gandhi was thrown off a train, beaten,
and refused a hotel room because of his race.
WHAT IF HE COMMITTED SUICIDE
instead of liberating India and introducing the world to nonviolent resistance?
Portrait of Gandhi
"We need to be the change we wish to see in the world."

My Workspace
It's been a while since I drew something realistic, and on traditional fine arts material no less xD. But I was glad I went. Also got lots of free "healthy" food samples, and learned things like I have a higher chance of dying from cancer because I'm a woman (breast cancer >D), and my ipod will kill my hearing if I listen to it more than 8 hours with the sound at mid-level.
