The Synopsis
The story takes place in the Cosmic Era, during which the Coordinators and the Naturals continue their battles against each other after the tragedy of the Bloody Valentine. The Coordinators are genetically enhanced versions of the "natural" human being--and their creation was what started the whole conflict. In the competitive lifestyle of the Human Race, Coordinators have the advantage over the Naturals (people who have not been genetically enhanced). In the midst of all this, Kira Yamato, a coordinator who had planned on living the rest of his days peacefully on the neutral colony of Heliopolis, is suddenly thrown into the chaos when his home is destroyed during a ZAFT invasion - ZAFT, the Coordinator military). Throughout the story, Kira Yamato shows awesome abilities when controlling the top-secret weapon the ZAFT were trying to get their hands on--GUNDAM: General Unilateral Neuro-link Dispersive Autonomic Maneuver--and begins to have a growing need to protect those who cannot protect themselves in the war as his talents as a Coordinator reach new heights.
