Hatchling
Tuesday, March 3, 2009 | Posted by Jay I've been getting some feedback asking for some more detailed before-and-afters, so this time I've decided to include a few more screenshots of the work in progress.
This one is my latest wall, Hatchling from Haibane Renmei. I didn't know this before (probably should've guessed from the style), but it's by the same artist as Serial Experiments Lain! (Here are a few walls I made for Lain: 1, 2.)
The two series are almost complete polar opposites of each other...but at the same time they do carry the same sort of underlying sorrow/mystery. Bleh. Too much thinking -_-.Click on the image to view a larger version. Original

I have a question, so did you basically just use the original as a sort of template and then reproduce the work of art using the brush tool and problaby various other effects?
Yes and no - sometimes it's just re-cg and messing with the framing, and other times it's a complete makeover with several images.... I can't really categorize it into one box, but I'm trying to play with as many styles as I can :).
