I can't find bowan (ボワン). I'm pretty sure it has the same meaning as bon.

It appears many times in one of my mangas as something magically appearing in a puff of smoke.

      Also, love this site. :)

Hm... I want to say that's probably *fa-whoosh* or something similar. Like instead of saying *smack* you add to it and make it *ker-smack*.

Reference: *bo* and *wan* (although the only examples I've seen of *wan* are of a dog sound).

      Glad you like :).

I'm using this for my Manga, so I can get Hiragana and Katakana for sound effects~~~ This site is wonderful~~!!!

      Anon @ Sunday, June 10, 2012 -- 3:43 pm

Hello, I couldn't find any of these sfx on the site. In fact I'm not even sure what katakana/hiragana is being used here.

      http://i48.tinypic.com/2qu7iqc.jpg

the sfx are visible in the image.

This looks like it might be similar to *doku doku* and *kopo kopo*. Do you have the rest of the panel/scan for reference?

      時doKI @ Monday, May 28, 2012 -- 1:44 pm

Vladimus, I'm pretty sure that is a gasping sound. "Guah!" Does seem to work fine. I would translate it as "Gasp!" Just to prevent other people having the same confusion you did.

      㐂 @ Wednesday, May 16, 2012 -- 8:32 pm

      I can't find ヌプッ
Is the meaning similar to グプッ?

Do you have the scan for context?

      riri_s @ Friday, May 11, 2012 -- 7:56 am

Does かぷ have the same meaning as がぷ or ぱく? If it does could someone add it to the SFX list.

Great website! It really helps a lot, Thanks!

      Vladimus @ Wednesday, May 9, 2012 -- 5:01 pm

I posted a question yesterday about the sound effect ぐはっ, and I guess it got denied for some reason so I'm posting it again. I'm not really sure what it means so here's a link with the page. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff302/Nihongofreak/Manga/Rappi_v08_c042_056.jpg

      Vladimus @ Tuesday, May 8, 2012 -- 4:58 pm

I can't find a meaning for ぐはっ. The context is kind of a surprising or shocking moment and the character is cluching his shirt at his chest and has a look of horror on his face with whited out eyes. Putting it as Guah! seemed fine to me. Any ideas? Thanks

      Anpan @ Thursday, May 3, 2012 -- 7:49 pm

Does anyone know what ズダッッ means? I'm not getting any results anywhere.

      ダリー君 (Dari-kun) @ Thursday, May 3, 2012 -- 3:01 am

Last one for today, sorry for making it into three messages :/

ピクン -> usually used in adult doujinshi. This term I always translate as a hard *Shudder* / *Tremble* (I have numerous reference images but most of them are unacceptable for a clean environment, however just ask if you need)
